Christchurch Senior Operations Manager

Recreational Services is a proudly owned NZ business and is a leader in the parks and open spaces industry.  We provide specialist maintenance and management services of parks and recreational spaces throughout various parts of New Zealand.  We are excited to be extending our services within New Zealand with securing a contract in the beautiful Christchurch.

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead our Christchurch parks and reserves team who can establish ongoing operations that deliver to the contract specifications and maintain enjoyable spaces for the community.  The team structure is 47 plus with a diverse range of activities that include mower, horticulture, turf and response activities.

 

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful applicant will be an experienced successful leader, well versed in building teams, with sound communication and inter-personal skills who will bring a passion to manage and motivate their people.

 

You will be confident and enjoy the opportunity to engage and build relationships with key stakeholders as well as the community.  You are able to demonstrate strong organisational skills, contract management, report writing, financial management and be computer literate and as an advantage hold either horticulture or sports turf qualification.

Christchurch Team Leader – Horticulture / Mowing

In these roles the successful applicant will work closely with employees, driving the day to day activities, helping to build a team who are focused and driven to achieve excellence and pride in what they do. They will maintain a hands-on approach, taking ownership of all areas within their responsibility, supporting the Senior Operations Manager in terms of people and performance management, quality control and auditing, budgetary reviews, and plant maintenance, in order to meet divisional priorities. They will manage their own workload, be extremely self-driven, and have the means to work flexible hours.

 

The successful Horticulture applicant will have:

·         A relevant horticultural qualification is preferred OR a wide range of horticultural skills and experience

·         Strong organisational and planning skills to coordinate and manage workloads

·         Proven experience overseeing projects and managing work schedules

·         Leadership skills with an enthusiasm to motivate a team

·         Experience in effective communication between key stakeholders, clients, interest groups and employees

Christchurch Turf Manager

We have a unique opportunity for a Turf Manager to join our Parks and Maintenance contract team based in Christchurch.

 

This role will suit applicants with proven success in cricket and turf maintenance who hold a Level 4 New Zealand Sports Turf Management qualification.

In this role you will be tasked with working closely with clients and key stakeholders to achieve quality outcomes on the ground, managing and maintaining the highest standards of playing surfaces and their surroundings, to meet contract specifications.  A mechanical aptitude in the use of tractors and turf related equipment and the ability to be flexible in your availability.

The successful applicant will ideally also offer:

·             Level 4 New Zealand Sports Turf Management qualification

·             Effective communication skills to liaise with key stakeholders, clients and interest groups

·             Strong attention to detail with well-planned organisational skills

·             The ability to work autonomously

·             A current full Drivers Licence

Christchurch - Horticulturist/Gardeners/Trainee Horticulturists

Do you have a passion for plants and working with them?

 

We have Horticulturists, Gardener and Trainee Horticulturists roles available. You'll love hard physical work, getting stuck in and working with the elements. Using a wide range of horticultural equipment you will be tasked with general garden maintenance duties which will include planting, pruning, spraying, hedge trimming and rubbish collection general gardening maintenance related duties.

 

To succeed in a horticulturist role you will:

·             Have a relevant New Zealand qualification (or equivalent) in amenity horticulture (Level 4 Advanced)

·             A minimum of two years previous practical experience in amenity horticulture maintenance

·             Hold a minimum of a full New Zealand car licence

·             Have the willingness to accept responsibility and ownership of jobs

·             Be able to prioritise, and ability to work within timeframes

·             Be a hard worker, physically fit and the strong desire to get the job done

Christchurch - Support Administrator

This is a great opportunity for an Administrator who thrives in a busy environment, is strongly customer focused and enjoys dealing with a variety of people and problems via the phone and email. 

Based in Christchurch, we seek interest from suitable candidates who are not scared of a challenge, can take ownership of their work and are happy to work autonomously, while forming part of a wider administration support team.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

·             Call centre database management (via Access), to ensure all calls/issues/costs are captured accurately and subsequently managed to completion

·             Via phone and email you will be dealing with a variety of people from members of the public, to council staff who will contact you to help keep our Parks looking at their best

·             Building strong relationships with council, management and our internal staff

·             Budget /Accounts management; responsible for budget, ensuring all costs are captured accurately and produce reports for management (via Excel)

 

To be successful in the role, you will need to have the following attributes:

·             Sound communication & customer management skills – manage the process to provide response back to customer’s  promptly and politely, follow-up unanswered queries and take overall responsibility of the call/issue

·             Proven problem solving experience – being able to work through call/issue and contact relevant stakeholders for solutions required, efficiently and effectively

·             Strong system skills – have sound data entry skills, and be able to demonstrate strong working knowledge of Excel and the ability to work with a variety of databases

·             Good with numbers – able to demonstrate ability to work with numbers and proven experience in management of budgets is preferable

·             Multi-tasking – being able to do several things at once, whilst also being accurate in the work you do

The Response/ Playground team is set up to deal with minor projects and day works that arise during the day to day running of our Community Parks contracts. The work is varied and you will need a wide range of skills which could include building and general handyman duties, playground/park maintenance, water blasting and rubbish collection.

Christchurch Mower Operator / Weedeaters

Christchurch - Linemarker

We currently have a great opportunity for a linemarker to join our Christchurch contract team. This role will include but is not limited to: linemarking, mowing, edging, irrigation, fertilising and general grounds and/or turf maintenance.

 

This role will suit applicants who have a keen interest in sports and are able to maintain a high attention to detail, in order to meet the high standards set for this contract. Experience is not essential but would be an advantage, however full training will be provided to the right applicant.

 

The successful applicant will:

  • Have the willingness to study and learn about sportsfields and turf maintenance from both a practical and theory perspective.
  • Hold a car and/or a heavy vehicle road licence.
  • Be a hard worker, reliable, with the ability to go the extra mile.

Auckland - Cricket Groundsman

Based within our Auckland North Sports Contract, this role will suit applicants who are experienced in turf maintenance/management who hold or have the equivalent of a NZ Sports Turf Level 4 Certification qualification, with proven success and the skills to complement their qualification.  Experience in cricket would also be an advantage.

The position will suit an energetic, cricket enthusiast, who can pro-actively produce, manage and maintain the highest standards of turf/cricket playing surfaces and their surroundings within contract specifications.

 

The successful candidates will:

  • Have at least 3 years practical cricket/turf maintenance experience
  • Have a  strong attention to detail, with the desire to deliver outstanding customer service and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Be flexible to work weekends, especially during the cricket season
  • Have the ability to work within a team
  • Hold a current driver’s licence
